Assistance with Daily Life

We believe assistance with daily life is all about enhancing quality of life. Our aim is to enable individuals to stay active and build their confidence.

We provide assistance for a range of different activities and innovative training programs, each tailored to suit the individual.

Activities include:

  • Assistance with cooking and preparing healthy meals.

  • Assistance with grocery shopping.

  • Assistance with time management, organising calendars, organising weekly meal plans and shopping lists.

  • Assistance with exercise and movement.

  • Assistance with short and long term goal setting.

  • Assistance with reading & learning.

  • Assistance with in home cleaning and daily tasks.

  • Assistance with problem solving.

  • Assistance with communication.

  • etc.

Access to Community

We believe it's important for individuals to have access to their community as it helps people stay connected.


We provide individuals the opportunity to engage in their community and social activities. Having access to community helps individuals build social skills and provides them a sense of belonging.

We are passionate about helping people get connected to their community, these activities include;

  • Visiting local bakeries.

  • Visiting local sporting clubs and becoming involved, such as; football, cricket, tennis, swimming, lawn bowls, golf, etc.

  • Supported employment at local grocery stores, farms and bakeries.

  • Walking to the local parks.

  • Attending local Men shed's for woodworking and gardening.

  • Attending local Physiotherapists for swim spa treatments.

Social Groups & Excursions

Our social groups and overnight excursions are a key feature to The Next Step. We provide the opportunity to learn how to live independently, make memories, travel the countryside and create new and meaningful friendships.

Activities include:

  • Cooking classes.

  • Trivia nights.

  • Ten pin bowling.

  • Laser tag.

  • Bounce.

  • Sporting games nights.

  • Concerts.

  • Live Magic shows.

  • Live Circus shows.

  • Live AFL games.

  • Live NBL games.

  • Live Big Bash games.

  • Trips to the beach.

  • Overnight trips to major cities such as, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney.

Support in Employment

Our employment support service is designed to assist individuals in finding and maintaining meaningful work that suits their skills, interests and goals

We believe in offering our participants equal opportunities, and we do this by providing employment support locally and rurally. We are big believers in guiding our participants into the next chapter of their life, a life that encourages independence and self-sufficiency.

Employment support options includes:

  • Local grocery stores.

  • Baker stores.

  • Local farms.

  • Local gyms.

  • Local factories.

  • etc.

Assistance with Self Care

We provide compassionate assistance with self care for individuals who need support with daily personal tasks.

We understand that every person has unique needs and preferences, so we tailor our approach to promote independence whilst ensuring safety and comfort.

Our goal is to support individuals in maintaining their personal well-being and confidence in a way that is empowering and respectful.

Our trained staff offer respectful care and assistance that includes:

  • Assistance with showering.

  • Assistance with toileting.

  • Assistance with eating.

  • Assistance with mobility.

  • Assistance with basic hygiene.

Transport

Our transport service is dedicated to supporting individuals living in remote/rural areas. We operate vehicles that can provide transport to and from your destination.

Being in Henty and rural, we understand the challenges that come with living in remote areas. This service is a great opportunity for individuals living on farms that may feel isolated.

We also have access to a community bus which is disability friendly, fully equipped with wheel chair access if required.

We provide transport for various things including;

  • Appointments

  • Work

  • TAFE

  • Family meetings

  • Exercise classes

  • Etc

Cleaning Services

Our cleaning service is specifically designed to support people who might find it challenging to maintain their living spaces. We offer compassionate, respectful, and reliable assistance, ensuring homes are clean, safe and comfortable.

Depending on the need, this service can be weekly or a tailored schedule.

Assistance options includes:

  • Basic tidying

  • Dusting

  • Vacuuming

  • Mopping

  • Re-organising house items

  • Window cleaning

Aged Care Services

At The Next Step we provide compassionate and reliable aged care services tailored to support the independence and well-being of our older adults. Our dedicated and qualified nurses offer a range of services.

Assistance we provide includes:

  • Personal care and grooming

  • Assistance with skin integrity

  • Assistance with daily activities.

  • Assistance with showering.

  • Assistance with toileting.

  • Assistance with eating.

  • Assistance with mobility.

  • Meal preparation

  • Basic house cleaning

  • Companionship

Road to Independence

Road to independence program is a subsidised program designed to assist young people living with disabilities to learn life skills and build capacity, with the long term vision being, independent living.

The program is a two step program;

  1. Learn to grow: designed to give each individual a taste of what it's like to live away from home, learning skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, laundry, etc.

  2. time to move: designed for individuals who are ready to take the next step and move out of home. This step will involve more frequent stays, and a more in depth and personalised support plan, to help you live independently.

Henty Respite Trust subsidise this program.

The program operates every Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Individuals in the learn and grow stay once a month. Individuals in the time to move stay once a fortnight. enquire now for your spot in the program.
